Marilyn Mosby, a former Baltimore City State’s Attorney, was found guilty of two counts of perjury in connection with her unauthorized withdrawal of $90,000 from a restricted city retirement account. During the trial, evidence revealed that she had falsely claimed a COVID-19 financial hardship in order to access these funds for “personal gain.”
“Evidence shows that she twice committed perjury in accessing funds that were solely the property of the city of Baltimore for the purpose of her own private gain,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Zelinsky stressed during the closing arguments on Wednesday. Ms. Mosby used the time of global suffering to her advantage, spending $1 million on vacation homes in Florida.”
In July of this year, Marilyn Mosby, the wife of Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby, made an announcement about their divorce.
“We have made the decision to dissolve our marriage after giving it great thought and much prayer. We wish to underscore our resolve to be steadfast co-parents in the future. We are steadfast in our commitment to our family and community,” the released in a statement.

Who is Nick Mosby?
After completing his studies at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Nick Mosby went on to Tuskegee University to obtain an engineering degree. He entered the 2011 City Council election and began implementing initiatives for minors who were awaiting adult trials. He enacted a number of important laws, such as ones that restricted the sale of alcohol to minors and did away with the need for criminal records on job applications.
He was appointed to the Maryland General Assembly’s House of Delegates in 2017, where he worked on bills to support historically black colleges and universities by introducing tax credits to increase endowments and to offer financial aid for GED recipients.
The next year, Nick Mosby chaired the Election Law Subcommittee and was elected to the House of Delegates, serving as a member of the Ways and Means Committee.
