A new rule about UPI was released on November 7 by NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India). It’s important for everyone who uses UPI for online payments to know about this.
The new rule from NPCI says that if a customer hasn’t used their third-party UPI app to do any transactions, they have to follow the guidelines. Examples of third-party UPI apps include Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM, and Phone Pay. In the last year, if he hasn’t used his UPI ID, it will be turned off. After that, he won’t be able to use UPI to pay for things online.
New guidelines will be implemented from this day
This new rule from NPCI starts on January 1, 2024 and applies to companies like Google Pay, Phone Pay, and Paytm. NPCI has said that if you haven’t used your UPI ID for a year by December 31, 2023, it will be closed.
If you haven’t used your UPI ID in a year, make any kind of transaction with it to keep it open and be able to use it for online payments.
Wrong transactions will be banned
This new rule from NPCI will help stop fake transactions and find UPI accounts that are not being used. Also, if you change your phone number and forget to turn off UPI, your UPI ID will be closed over time to prevent anyone from misusing it.
